Visual artist Threadstories creates beautifully made, wearable textile masks that obscure her face. Each mask is worn and photographed, employing multiple gestures and expressions.
We were first commissioned by Threadstories in 2017 to create a series of 5 second videos specifically for Instagram that would showcase her masks in motion. We followed this series by creating two short documentaries, where Threadstories spoke about her creative process and the influence artist Francis Bacon has on her work.
Following the success of these videos, we were commissioned again to create a series of videos for Falsehoods, an exhibition of Threadstories’ work at the Kilkenny Arts Office and another separate video work was commissioned for .OBJ which was a group exhibition curated by Nora O Murchú at the National Design and Craft Gallery in Kilkenny.
Mary and Dan of Sixbetween have that much sought after combination - artistic vision and technical ability, the importance of which cannot be underestimated. This combination allowed me to put my trust in them as creative collaborators, from initial-discussions right through to the editing process they supported and guided me to bring out the best in my work and how I communicate my practice. I can now share insights into my studio practice with galleries, magazines and clients with ease and confidence.
